ICT Inter-School Competition
The ICT Inter-School Competition is an educational innovation initiative by
Cyberline Technologies Uganda Ltd, designed to empower secondary school students with
practical ICT skills, digital awareness, and critical thinking abilities. The competition
promotes experiential learning by encouraging students to apply classroom knowledge to
real-world challenges.
This national competition, open to private secondary schools, will provide a platform for
students to explore how Information and Communication Technology can be used to address
pressing societal issues. The competition theme is still being finalized ahead of launch —

The Cyberline EdTech Inter-School ICT Competition is aligned with Uganda's national development priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This year's specific SDG focus is still being finalized — stay tuned for the announcement.

Eligibility & Participation
The competition is open to private secondary schools across Uganda that are committed to promoting ICT education and digital skills among learners.
Students in Senior 2, Senior 3, and Senior 5
Participants must be enrolled in a registered private secondary school
Schools may register one official team for the competition

Team Composition
Each participating school will select a team to represent them in the competition, with inclusivity and genuine interest in ICT as core selection criteria.
Each school will select four (4) students to form a competition team
Teams will be mixed-gender where possible to promote inclusivity
Students must demonstrate basic interest or competence in ICT-related subjects

Role Of The Teacher / ICT Instructor
Teachers play a central role in preparing and supporting their school's team throughout the competition, and gain professional benefits through the program.
Each team must be accompanied by one (1) teacher acting as the school coordinator
The teacher will oversee students' preparation during the competition stages

A multi-stage journey designed to challenge, mentor, and celebrate student innovation — from the district level all the way to national finals.
District Rounds
The competition begins with the District Rounds, the first official competitive stage of the program. Schools within each district travel to a centralised competition venue where they participate in a rapid-fire buzzer quiz testing knowledge of ICT fundamentals and the Sustainable Development Goals. The competition emphasizes knowledge, teamwork, quick thinking, and understanding of technology's role in solving real-world development challenges.

Regional Rounds
Schools that qualify from the district stage advance to the Regional Rounds. These competitions are held at central venues within each region of Uganda and bring together the best-performing schools from district events, representing Central, Eastern, Western, and Northern Uganda. The same buzzer quiz format is used, but with more advanced questions and stronger competition between top-performing teams.

Innovation Month
Following the regional competitions, finalist schools enter a structured development programme where teams work with mentors to design and develop real technology solutions addressing sustainable development challenges. The programme operates in a hybrid mentorship format, combining regional in-person sessions with online guidance from Cyberline Technologies and industry professionals. Students research local challenges, design technology-based solutions, and build functional prototypes.

A National Innovation Showcase
The competition concludes with the Grand Finale Tech Expo, a national innovation event bringing together finalist schools from across Uganda. This highly anticipated event showcases student creativity, technological innovation, and problem-solving ability.
Each finalist team sets up an exhibition booth to present and demonstrate their working prototype developed during Innovation Month. A panel of judges drawn from industry, government, academia, and the development sector evaluates the solutions throughout the day. The event concludes with an awards ceremony recognizing student achievements and announcing the top schools who receive permanent ICT infrastructure prizes.
